Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 17, 2026
Tend ("Tend," "we," or "us") is a private app for couples. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it short and in plain language.
What we collect
When you use Tend, we collect only what the app needs to work:
- Account info. Your email address, name, and (if you choose) a profile photo. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique identifier from them so we can recognize you on future sign-ins.
- Relationship info. A randomly generated invite code that lets your partner join your private space, and the link between the two of you once they do.
- Content you create. Anything you write, record, or upload inside Tend — notes, photos, voice memos, love letters, question answers, drawings, game moves. Some of this is visible only to you (your private vault); the rest is shared only with your partner.
- Location (optional). If you grant permission, we use your approximate location to show the distance between you and your partner on the home screen. You can turn this off at any time in your iPhone's Settings.
- Contacts (optional). If you grant permission, we use your contacts only to help you quickly invite your partner. We do not upload your contact list to our servers.
- Device and app data. Basic technical information — app version, device type, crash logs, and anonymous usage signals that help us fix bugs and improve the app.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
How we use what we collect
- To run the app and sync your content between devices.
- To let you and your partner share notes, letters, answers, and games privately.
- To send you notifications you've asked for (reminders, your partner's activity).
- To fix bugs, improve stability, and understand which features are useful.
- To keep the app safe — for example, preventing abuse of invite codes.
Who we share data with
Tend is built on a small set of trusted services. We share only what each service needs to do its job:
- Supabase — stores your account, content, and media on encrypted servers.
- Apple and Google — if you sign in with Apple or Google, they handle authentication.
- Expo / Expo Application Services — delivers app updates and push notifications.
- Apple TestFlight (beta only) — Apple provides crash logs and basic usage info during the beta test period.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information with third parties for their own purposes.
Your content is private to you and your partner
The things you create in Tend are only visible to the two of you. Your private vault entries are visible only to you. We do not read, analyze, or train any model on your content.
Your choices
- Access or export your data. Email us and we'll send you a copy.
- Delete your account. You can delete your account inside the app from your profile, or by emailing us. Deleting your account permanently removes your content from our servers. If your partner is still active, their own copy of anything they created stays with them.
- Revoke permissions. Location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, and notifications can all be turned off in your iPhone's Settings at any time.
How long we keep your data
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your content from our servers within 30 days. Anonymous crash logs and usage data may be kept longer.
Security
Your data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored encrypted at rest. No system is perfectly secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, email us immediately.
Children
Tend is not intended for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we've done so, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update this page and change the "Effective date" at the top. For significant changes, we'll also let you know inside the app.
